(Florida), August 4. The captain and three members of his crew last night brought under control a fire blazing on the 13,679-ton Liberian tanker Lacon, after having abandoned the ship on Sunday .vith the other 36 crew members.
The four were returned to the tanker by the United States submarine Volador after the fire had largely subsided, and they managed to confine what was left of the blaze to a storeroom. Most of the crew of the Lacon were picked up on Sunday by the 16,729-ton Venezuelan ship Icoa, which is taking them to Newport News, Virginia. A salvage tug is expected to arrive on Thursday to take the tanker and her crew of four in tow.
