VIETNAM EVENTS
P.M. asks for reminder (N.Z. Prest Association) WELLINGTON, June 21. The Prime Minister (Sir Keith Holyoake) has asked his departmental officers to refresh his memory on the matters leading up to New Zealand’s involvement, in the Vietnam war. Asked at a press conference whether the Government was considering having a committee to inquire into the situation, as was the case in Australia, Sir Keith Holyoake said he had not thought of it. The Australian Government has decided that its Defence Committee should inquire into the circumstances involving that country’s involvement. This follows the disclosures published in the “New York Times” from State Department documents. Sir Keith Holyoake said he did not know why the Australian Government was taking this action but said there had been changes in the Government there since the decision was taken.
