World bowls tourney

(N.Z.P.A. Staff Correspondent) LONDON. New Zealand is one of 15 countries regarded as certain starters for the world bowls championships to be held in England in June next year. The others are England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey, the United States, Canada. Australia, Malawi, Fiji, Israel, Papua-New Guinea, and Hong Kong. Officials of the English Bowling Association said that both South Africa and Rhodesia were keen to send teams, but their entry, if eventually accepted, might mean the withdrawal of Zambia and Kenya, which otherwise might enter.The tournament will be held at Worthing, on the English south coast. The bowling association is now raising £27,000 as Its share of the £65,000 needed to run the tournament.
