Experienced Ex-Kiwis
The Canterbury Rugby League E’-Kiwis team will be able to draw on the experience gained from 156 international appearances for its match against the youthful Invitation XIII at the Show Grounds on Sunday week.
This is the combined total of matdies played for New Zealand by the 16 past and present Kiwis included in the squad announced by the association’s chairman. G. R. Cooksley. The “senior” member is M. L. Cooke, the new Canterbury coach and forward selector, who won 22 test caps and took part in a total of 52 games for his country. J.
E. Bond (22), B. W. Langton (15) and M. P. Brereton (13) also made more than 10 appearances. Brereton, Cooksley and J. Greengrass were in the New Zealand World Cup squad in England last October, and R. S. Walker was also selected to tour until injury forced his withdrawal.
Two long-serving club and representative players, R. H. I Turton and R. Franklin, have been invited to appear for the Ex-Kiwis. The squad is:—L T. Drayton, A. R. White, S. Dunn, B.
