CONSTABLES HANDCUFFED

fIU. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, March 29. Two Sydney policemen were left standing at the side of the road, handcuffed, while two hold-up men escaped with their pistols and in their patrol car early today. Senior Constable W. Granville and a Probationary Constable J. Bell were disarmed and handcuffed at the point of a sawn-off rifle, in the suburb of Flemington about 2 a.m.

The two men escaped in another car after crashing the police car in their getaway. The policemen were released shortly afterwards by a passing nightwatchman. The police later described the fugitives as “very dangerous.”
