Fairchild dead
Mr Sherman Mills Fairchild, the American aviation pioneer, has died in Roosevelt Hospital, New York, aged 74. Fairchild founded the Fairchild-Hiller Corporation, having begun his career in aerial photography developing the between-the-lens shutter for aerial cameras and a technique eliminating distortion in the pictures. In 1920 he founded the Fairchild Aerial Camera Corporation, which took aerial pictures al! over the world.— New York, March 29.
