Indonesians study S.A.R. in N.Z.
Three Indonesians are in New Zealand for eight weeks to see the search and rescue organisation with a view to setting up a similar body in their own country.
The three men have been studying the New Zealand system for the last 10 days at the Civil Aviation Division’s Aeronautical College at Christchurch Airport. Geographically New Zealand and Indonesia are similar—long narrow islands with mountain ranges. Already the three men have visited the division’s head office in Wellington where they were given the national aspects of the search and rescue organisation. Since coming to Christ- ■
i church they have visited trph I cal field centres at Queenstown, Timaru and Dunedin. Today they will go to Wig- ' ram. On Friday the three men will go to Auckland where • they will be shown the run- ■ ning of the northern region i of the organisation. This will be followed by three weeks >of consolidation at head ; office in Wellington. i Mr T. D. Faithful, the seni ior instructor at the aero- • nautical college in Christchurch, has been in charge of the Indonesian party.
