Public Library site
Sir,—Like some of your earlier correspondents, I felt the university site offered the most attractive possibilities for a new library. The unique character of the buildings, spacious arid quiet surroundings, and potentialities for adequate parking, are just some of the important advantages. And would riot the cost of. acquiring and internally altering the university buildings be less than that of a new building? As you suggested in your editorial, the Manchester Street site must inevitably add to the unpleasant corigestion in that area. The City Council’s recent announcement in favour of this site gave no indication of the university site having been considered at all. If not, I wonder why not?— Yours, etc., A. H. BENNETT.
