Fish trap
A special meeting of the South Canterbury Acclimatisation Society on Thursday evening declared the Junction Hole (the area where the Temuka River flows into the Opihi River) a fish trap. Spawning salmon have been stopped by the receding flow of the Opihi River. Consequently, the limits of the Junction Hole have been marked with pegs, and anglers are prohibited from fishing there.
