EXTENSIONS TO HOME
Work is expected to start soon on a 12-bed extension to the Isabell Bursill home for aged women at Blenheim. The home is run by the Christchurch Presbyterian Social Service Association. The new 3400 sq. ft wing will be a single-storey structure with an electrically heated concrete floor. Bedrooms will have built-in wardrobes, dressing tables and hand basins. In association with the Methodist Central Mission, the P.S.S.A. plans to provide extensions to the Greengables home. Sketch plans are being prepared for a 20-bed accommodation wing which will be built on property bought by the association, adjacent to the existing home. Plans are also being drawn for a 15bed hospital to be erected at the rear.
