(By
WHIM WHAM)
The Prime Minister, Sir Keith Holyoake, will call at Washington, probably just before Easter, en route to London . . . said he expected to have a very “wide-ranging discussion” with the President. “We have so many matters of mutual interest ... I will be disappointed if something has not been set Up with Bill Rogers (United States Secretary of State),” Sir Keith Holyoake said. Oh, to be in Washington, When it’s April there, .Leafing Locust and Dogwood screen The Avenues with a Cloud of Green. From a Balcony on Capitol Hill, Or the old grey Library window-sill, As lovely a View as the Sun shines on, In the Middle Distance, the Pentagon! And Lincoln sits like Zeus on his Throne, In his pillared Temple, huge in Stone. Washington’s Column, 500 Feet of It, Did he dream, when he chose the Seat of It, The greatest Power on Earth would bring SIR KEITH to Washington, in Spring? They’re mowing the Lawns at the White House, They’re turning off the Central Heating, They’re polishing up the Chandeliers, For KEITH’S and RICHARD’S meeting. He’s hoping to see BILL ROGERS, Who’ll take Time out for a Chat, And SPIRO AGNEW (Hiya, Spi!) They’re Buddies, just like That. Oh, to be in Washington, When Keith and April come! Locust Trees and Dogwood leafing, Holyoake receives his Briefing. DICK and BILL will tell him, Then He’ll tell BILL and DICK again. Then they’ll All know, so will We, Sir, Just What we knew the Line would be, Sir! Oh, to be in WELLINGTON, When Keith’s at Capitol Hill, One Bore more at the White House Door? You’re welcome, Dick and BILL.
