View of bill attacked

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 24. The president of the Associated Chambers of Commerce (Mr A. R. Simm), today attacked the view, which was apparently held by some, that the Stabilisation of Remuneration Bill was aimed at restraining wages alone. He was referring to the use of the words “the bill to restrain wages” in news items. Mr Simm said in a statement that the use of these words was most misleading and could influence further this incorrect impression. If the bill was aimed at restraining wages alone, the Associated Chambers would not be supporting it. The support was given because the bill aimed at a period of stabilisation during which all could strive for better conditions for the worker, and for greater productivity for the good of all New Zealanders, Mr Simm said.
