Good run by Ball Boy

Ball Boy. a candidate fbr the Dunedin Maiden Stakes at Wingatui on Saturday, turned in the most impressive trial in a restricted morning’s training at Invercargill yesterday. Working with the open sprinter Waterfront, which is to make a fresh start at Wingatui, Ball Boy finished seven to eight lengths clear at the end of half a mile in 49 4-ssec, the last three in 37 4-ssec.
Ball Boy, a three-year-old halfbrother, by Bellborough to Segundo, has been only lightly raced this season, but he has been placed in two of his five starts. ’
Segundo worked over a round on Ills own and ran in from the half-mile in 53sec. He is to revert to jumping in the next few weeks.
Bellaware, which has come up well after her race at the Birchwood hunt meeting, was paired with Bellekco for an easy six. They ran in from the half-mile in 52 3-ssec. Bellaware worked very keenly.
No penalty for Tauto (N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) SYDNEY. The Victorian miler Tauto, the winner of the Alister Clark Stakes at Moonee Valley last Saturday, has escaped a penalty for the Doncaster Handicap. The Australian Jockey Club handicapper, Mr K. Goodwin, yesterday said Tauto would receive no penalty for the $50,000 race which will be run at Randwick on April 10. Tauto, which was declared a starter in the Doncaster by connections yesterday, will carry 8-13 in the race.
