Average, and average to good style fleece, tender or cotted wool, and lambs’ wool was up to 2J per cent easier. Necks sold in sellers’ favour. Other skirtings such as bulky pieces and bellies sold in buyers’ favour, the official report said. The first day’s offering was 23,001 bales; 50 per cent was ewe and shorn hogget fleece, 30 per cent lambs’ fleece, and the balance the usual oddments. , , The ewe and second shear fleece was mainly of good length but in many of the unclassed and unskirted lines the degree of discoloured skirts was heavier than earlier this year. These lines

also showed a fair proportion of tenderness, dust, and cotted fleece. The lambs’ wool was slightly shorter and of poorer colour than usual. Good, general competition came mainly from the Continent and Eastern Europe, and some support from the United States. RANGE OF PRICES
