Price of chocolate
Sir, —I can assure “R” that I am not dumb regarding the $60,000 made by a workingmen’s club. But that is only peanuts compared to the huge profits made by the business tycoons from chocolate and other foods: Recently 38 applications for price increases or weight reductions have been approved by the National Government. This is the sort of Government that “R” apparently wishes to retain in office. It is an unjust Government, otherwise a bill to control prices and profits would be introduced into Parliament now. That is why I want to get a Labour Government — because a more Christian attitude will be shown to the people and the country. The National Government is too concerned with increases in wages and not enough concerned with the huge profits and prices increases. It should do the decent thing and resign.—Yours, etc., ARTHUR L. WALKER. March 22, <1971.
