Very fast
scoring Two Old Collegians lower grade cricketers were responsible for a glut of very fast scoring at Sydenham Park on Saturday. R. Smith, who made 101 not out, and P. D. Hammond (66 not out) scored 135 runs in 35 minutes in their successful effort to score quickly after Old Collegians had taken a first Innings lead. Sydenham A scored 73, and Old Collegians reached this total by 4 p.m. When the Innings was declared 35 minutes later, the total was 206 for three—and the Sydenham captain, J. McWhlnnle, had turned to under-arm bowling in a desperate effort to slow the scoring rate. Old Collegians won the match on the first inning*.
