A dead-heat in the first race set the pattern for a duel between two Auckland yachts in the national Flying Fifteen yachting championship. After four of the five races, only 0.3 points separate Ragamuffin, sailed by S. P. Craddock, and Fforever, skippered by J. McWebber. Since they tied in the openrace, Craddock has won twice and finished third once, and McWebber has had one first and three seconds.
The points after four races are: Ragamuffin, 7.2; Fforever, 7.5; Kotuka (B. Finlayson, Napier), 22.7; Ribbon (R. G. Moor, Christchurch), 41.7; Namingo (T. J. Harris, Auckland), 47.4.
