Games swimming pool
Sir,—l notice in today’s account of the local bodies’ meeting on fuel tax that Mr E. R. Radcliffe, of Mount Herbert County, mentioned that his county is building a new swimming pool at Governor’s Bay. What a giant step to open up the beauties of our magnificent Lyttelton Harbour to the rest of the world if the Commonwealth Games pool were built at Governor’s Bay! Canterbury people may sigh when they contemplate the progress of the North Island, but what North Island city would be so foolish as to relegate the superb beauty of our Lyttelton Harbour to the status of a poor relation? Did someone mention vision? —Yours, etc., L.T. February 5, 1971.
