Fisherman killed
(N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Feb. 5. A Riverton fisherman was killed in a road acident on the Wreys Bush-Mossbum highway this morning. He was Charles Lornes (Cardy) Waitiri, aged 41, married, with one child. His pasenger, Noel Wilson, aged 22, of Queens Drive, Invercargill, was in a satisfactory condition in the Kew Hospital intensive care unit I tonight. Their late-model utility left the road about 10.45 a.m. on a sweeping bend about a mile south of'the Jacobs River bridge. The utility overturned once and landed on its wheels. It was extensively damaged. Mr Waitiri was thrown out. Mr Wilson suffered leg and head injuries.
Farmers action.—T h e Thames sub-province of Federated Farmers has deferred any decision on supporting the Waikato action committee in its quest for a 25 per cent increase in prices for farm products until after discussions are held later this month between the farming industry and the Government.
