Five persons admitted to hospital
Five persons were admitted to hospital in Christchurch after road accidents during the week-end.
Anthony John Wright, of 4 Bevington Street. Avonhead. last evening was in a comfortable condition with
moderately serious head injuries and throat lacerations received when two cars collided on the Port Hills Road about 12.20 a.m. yesterday. lan Murray Collins, of 3 Port Hills Road, was also taken to hospital after the accident, but was discharged after treatment for minor head and leg injuries. Frank McDonald Jury, of 32 Shackleton Street, New Brighton, suffered moderately serious head injuries when the car in which he was travelling struck a power pole at the intersection of Ferry and Ensors Roads. His condition at Burwood Hospital last evening was fairly satisfactory. Mrs Doris Moffitt, of Rununga, is in a satisfactory condition in Christchurch Hospital with back injuries she suffered when the car in which she was travelling overturned in the Lewis Pass on Saturday morning. Ellen Page, of 26 Ward Street, Rununga, was. also taken to hospital after the accident, but was treated for minor injuries and discharged. Kevin Alexander Young, of 46 Whitefield Avenue, Kaiapoi, was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital shortly after 8.30 p.m. on Saturday after two motor-cycles collided at the Templeton speedway. His condition last evening was satisfactory. Timothy Brons, of 19 Norah Street, St Albans, was admitted to Christchurch Hospital on Saturday afternoon after he was struck by a car in Harper Avenue, Riccarton. He was discharged yesterday.
