‘DEAD’ WITH A PURPOSE
(N.Z Press Assn.—Copyright) AGEN (France), February 5. The corpse opened one eye and said to his weeping best friend, "Ssh ... I’m not dead ... but get me out of here. My wife and my mother-in-law want to kill me.”
This was the story told by Mr Pierre Brouat, aged 61, who is in hospital for surgery to arm and leg injuries, after his friend called police to rescue him. Mr Brouat said that after a family quarrel he was attacked by his wife, aged 65, and her mother, aged 85, who beat him with a hay-fork and a sickle. He pretended to be dead and the women placed him on a bed in their farmhouse before calling neighbours, saying that he had been killed in an accidental fall. Mr Brouat waited until his friend arrived before he “came back to life.”
The police said that they were investigating and might bring charges against the women.
