18 killed in civil air accidents
(NZ. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 23. Eighteen persons were killed in the 141 civil aircraft accidents which occurred in New Zealand in 1969, it was said in a Ministry of Transport air accidents investigation report released today. Seven persons suffered serious injuries and 11 suffered minor injuries in the eight fatal accidents which occurred. Three of the fatal accidents occurred in aircraft engaged on aerial work—two of them being fixed-wing aeroplanes and one a helicopter. There were no accidents involving scheduled air transport but there were six accidents involving aircraft engaged in non-scheduled and charter operations, 54 involving aerial work, 41 involving aero clubs and flying schools, 26 involving private flying, and 14 involving gliders. Twelve aircraft were destroyed on take-off and seven after they bad been in fl 'of' aircraft substantially damaged, 86 were damaged flight.
