Truck on fire
The cab of a truck was destroyed but the Kaikoura Volunteer Fire Brigade made a good save of the rest of the vehicle and its contents when it was called to a fire at Kei Kei, eight miles south of Kaikoura just before midday yesterday. The fire started in the truck cab as it was passing through one of the two tunnels. Owned by a Christchurch sideshow proprietor and carrying a ferris wheel, the truck had refuelled shortly before and had 50 gallons in its tank.
