AUST. WOOL SITUATION
(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter —Copyright) CANBERRA, Nov. 22. The 5 per cent of wool passed in at sales during the last few days to the Australian Wool Commission was insignificant, the chairman of the Australian Wool Board (Sir William Gunn), told a conference of representatives of fashion industries yesterday. He said that he was confident that the wool passed in would be sold later at a profit. “Since the date of the announcement that there would be a commission and today, the price of wool has risen by 6c per lb,” he said. “It is too early to say what the influence of the commission on wool prices has been, and judgment will have to wait until the commission has operated in varying situations. But I, personally, believe that the decision to establish the commission has been responsible for the upturn in the market.”
