Women’s cricket
St Albans H had a first innings "in over Western In the only senior match of the women’s cricket competition on Saturday. St Albans scored 115 in its first Innings. Western was only 15 runs behind at stumps on the first day, with three wickets in hand. It finished eight runs short, with 108. St Albans, n in Its second innings scored 85 but would not have made this total if Westera a fielding had not been so poor. Western, needing 93 to win In 55 minutes, had scored 56 for seven at the close of play. Scores were:
St Albans H 115 and 85 (A. Malins 39: S. Cowles 4/30, A. Paterson 4/31) beat Western 108 and 56/7 (S Cowles 18. A. Paterson 18; S. Rattray 5/17, S. Masters 1/12).
Intermediate grade Mai Moa had an outright win over St Albans. S. Roberts with 5/14 and 4/9, and J. Lee, 4/1 and 3/13, both finished with fine bowling figures. Scores were: Mai Moa 120/8 declared (S. Roberts 26. J. Lee 25, L. Jones 18 not out, J. Schrader 16; M. Shimmin 3/28, R. Lawrie 2/6) beat St Albans 26 (C. Theile 12: S. Roberts 5/14, J. Lee 4/D and 47 (J. Donaldson 22: S. Roberts 4/9. J. Lee 3/13, J. Shrader 1/4) P.LC.C. 63 (T. Eves 12. S. Vus 12: H. Smyth 5/16. L. Willmett 4/43 beat Burnside 44 (K. Thomas 14. M. Bourke 11, L. Willmeat 10: M. Siaue 6/13, G. Newport 2/15). Points to date in the senior competition are: Western 18. St Albans I 16, St Albans n 15, Hagley 3.
