Collegians dominate morning play
East-Shirley had to make a long haul to get back into the match at Burwood Ch’al, after Old Collegians had dominated the morning session. For this, Old Collegians could thank R. W. Fulton, who took advantage of two dropped catches to play another free and dominating inning* J. W. Gebbie gave him useful support in the opening partnership. then D. S Banks, though never in his very best touch, played a few handsome drives in a valuable innings. But the middle-order collapsed badly against the steadiness of V. Pollard s off-spin, and it required the last pair, N. F. Curtis and R. M. Morten, to take the total past 200. East-Shirley contributed to Old Collegians’ score in the morning, especially, with their dropped catcnes." A. C. Nottingham thus did not win just reward for a long, untiring opening spell of 15 overs. After a brisk start, J. W. Grocott and G. Tait became a little tied down, but four fours from two overs set the East-Shirley pair in motion again. Grocott was again in fine form after overcoming an uncertain start, and had good support from A. L. Andrew in the last hour. Scores were: OLD COLLEGIANS First inmnngs R.
