TRANSPORT LICENCES

An application by Refrigerated Freight Lines, Ltd, Auckland, for the addition of four vehicle authorities to carry general goods on trailers towed by the company’s own units was granted by the No. 9 Transport Licensing Authority (Mr J. M. Dwyer). W. G. Butler and Son, Beckenham, was granted the addition of one vehicle authority to carry shingle, sand, rock and spoil, and Templeton Transport, Ltd, was granted an amendment to two vehicle authorities to allow the transport of livestock in the No. 10 district.

The Railways Department was granted an application amending the departure time of the Timaru to Christchurch buses from 11.15 a.m. Monday to Saturday to 11.05 a.m. The goods service licence of R. G. Young, Hamilton Avenue, was revoked on the grounds that he is no longer operating. Decision on an application by Transport (North Canterbury), Ltd, for four additional vehicle authorities, for permission to carry stock to Picton, for an additional authority to carry the firm’s spare parts, motors and tools with rail exemption, and for one vehicle authority to be extended to the Grey and Waimea counties, was reserved. McCrackens Transport (Rangiora), Ltd was granted an additional vehicle authority, a seasonal restriction on one authority was deleted and a vehicle authority was granted for the cartage of logs and timber from Hamner Springs. Decision on an application for exemption from rail restriction on two authorities when loaded with logs, poles and posts from Hanmer Springs to Rangiora after loading during the day at Culverden was reserved. Also reserved was a decision on an application by Amuri Transport, Ltd, Culverden, for additional vehicle authorities for general goods, one additional vehicle authority to carry mine props, fencing material and timber from Culverden to Hanmer Springs, and one additional authority to carry timber to Amuri, Cheviot and Waipara counties.
