RECORD SWIMS
Canterbury girls (N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON. Two New Zealand swimming records fell to Canterbury girls at an invitation carnival in the Hamilton pool on Saturday. Miss C. whiting clipped fourtenths of a second off Miss 8. Whlttleston's 100 yards women's butterfly time of 61.8 sec, and Miss J. Parkhouse captured the junior women’s 440 yards freestyle mark from Miss S. Hunter (Canterbury). Her time of 4min 46.75ec took 4.ssec off the old record. Results of- invitation events were:— open 440 yd freestyle: J. Parkhouse (Canterbury) 1, M. Waives (Waikato) 2, J. Wright (Canterpun:) 3. Time, 4:40.7. 100 yd butterfly: G. Campbell (Waikato) 1, A. Barfoot (Auckland) 2, M. Treffers (Southland) 3. Time, 56.3. 100 yd freestyle: G Walker (Canterbury) 1, Davies 2, G. Brain (Waikato), 3. Time, 51.9. 220 yd freestyle: Walker 1. A. Kindred (Waikato) 2, Treffers 3. Time, 2:8.5. 440 yd treestyle: Treffers L Kindred 2, G. Knight (Waikato) 3, Time. 4:28.7. women 100 yd backstroke: G. Stirling (Auckland) 1, Wright 2, J. Whateley (Waikato) 3. Time, 64.45. 200 yd freestyle: Parkhouse 1, Wright 2, G. Bradley (Waikato) 3. Time, 2:20.9. n 100 yd butterfly: C. Whiting (Canterbury) 1, F Crawford (Auckland) 2. H. Coombridge (Waikato) 3. Time, 61.4. 1 100 yd freestyle: Whiting 1, Parkhouse 2; Coombridge 3. Time. 57.9. ■
