Paremoremo prisoners committed for trial
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 20. Six Paremoremo prisoners who appeared in the North Shore Magistrate’s Court today were committed to the Supreme Court for trial and a seventh was remanded for sentence. Depositions were taken before Mr J. H. Murray, S.M., concerning the men’s alleged involvement in an incident at the prison on October 11. Julian Thomas Barbarich, aged 20, Norman Wallace Davis, aged 25, and Daniel John Yorker, aged 30, were charged with injuring with intent to injure Prison Officer; Wayne Wills. They all pleaded not guilty. Michael Patrick George Bennett, aged 22, Nelson Richard Harrison, aged 27, and Terrence Clement Tallis,: aged 25, were jointly charged that with intent to injure Second Officer Max-
well Herbert Hindmarsh, they did injure him. They all pleaded not guilty. Barbarich also appeared on two counts of assaulting Prison Officer John Browne and a further charge of assaulting Senior Prison Officer Rakato Te Rangiita. He entered no plea. Bernard Frederick White, aged 23, pleaded guilty to a charge of assaulting Prison Officer Rakato Te Rangiita. He was remanded for sentence until November 27.
