Attendance at conference
The council would be completely Unjustified ih sending three delegates to Auckland at a cost of at least $5OO, said Cr R. C. Neville, at a meeting of the Waimairi County Council on Thursday evening. He was opposing a motion by Cr. I. Calvert that a recommendation from the reserves committee that two councillors and one staff member attend the Institute of Park Management conference at Auckland from February 8 to 11, be discussed in committee. “This is a matter of public interest,” said Cr W. T. Rice. Cr A. A. Adcock asked Cr Calvert for his reasons for wanting an “in committee” discussion. Cr Calvert said the recommendation involved individual councillors. Cr W. R. Holmes seconded the motion, which was carried by five yotes to four.
