Comalco and Harvey in joint venture
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 20. Comalco, Ltd, Alex Harvey Industries Ltd, and L. J. Fisher and Company, Ltd, are establishing two companies in a joint venture in New Zealand to manufacture aluminium extrusions and fabricated architectural aluminium products.
Finished architectural aluminium products would be made within New Zealand from primary aluminium produced at the Bluff smelter from July next year. The joint venture, which will commence operations on
April 1, consists of two companies, to be owned equally by Comalco and the A.H.I. group. They will make use of Comalco's skills in producing aluminium extrusions and of A.H.I. and the L. J. Fisher group’s experience in the manufacturing and marketing of consumer products." T One of the companies will i operate an extrusion press, which will manufacture a complete range of extrusions for the New Zealand aluminium fabricating industry, and will be Comalco’s responsibility. The extrusion press will be located in Auckland, and will begin production soon. * ■ The other company, which will be the responsibility of ,A.H.I. and the L. J. Fisher group, will manufacture architectural aluminium products,! ; and market them locally and! I overseas.
