Abortion pill
(N.Z .P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) TOKYO, Oct. 15. In a few years, women may be able to use « pill to induce instant, trouble-free abortion. The development of the socalled “prostaglandin pill” was reported to delegates of 21 countries on the final day of a Tokyo conference that has been considering Asia’s birth-control problems. Dr R. T. Ravenholt, director of the American State De partment’s office of population, who reported the development to the conference, said: “This is going to free women for ever from the reproductive slavery. For the first time, woman will be able to have perfect control over her menstrual period; and the only babies bom are going to be wanted babies. “The introduction of the pill, and its eventual readyavailability in every woman’s medicine-cabinet, will bring about a moral revolution. Research was now proceeding at several American universities and in other Western countries, with the expectation that the pill would probably be available in two or three years, Dr Ravenholt said.
