KILLING OF AUTHOR
Grandson charged
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) DUXBURY (Massachusetts), October 15. An author, Mrs Cid Ricketts, Sumner, aged 79, was found bludgeoned to death in her home yesterday. Police said that her grandson, John Cutler, aged 16, who lived next door, came to them in the early morning and took officers to the body; he was later charged with the killing. Mrs Sumner was known for her “Tammy” books, many of which were made into motion pictures. She was the widow of Dr James Sumner, who was awared the Nobel Prize, for chemistry, in 1946, for work on crystallising enzymes.
