Freezing industry.
Sir, —Why cannot employers and employees get together, before the commencement of each killing season, and arrange their working requirements for the ensuing season (which would be bind-
ing for that period)? If any; disagreement arises during! the year the matter can be debated before all parties at the end of the season. Work for the new season would not then start until everyone was in agreement. It would probably mean that all employees worked under one union, but that should not be an insurmountable difficulty. They as much as do so now. If one department goes on strike, the rest cannot work, or they have a sympathy strike, so they may as well have one union. For the good of all, and for our country, work in continuity is essential.— Yours, etc., INDUSTRIAL HARMONY. September 17, 1970.
