Angus heifers sold to N.S.W.
Twenty Angus heifers in calf to Charolais bulls have been shipped from Lyttelton to Sydney. They were the first of a consignment of cattle worth $50,000 which is going to the Wendell West Pastoral Company, of Muilumbimby, New South Wales. They were selected by the company’s manager (Mr J. Heaton) during a recent visit to New Zealand. The aim of his company is to establish a Charolais herd using New Zealand heifers as foundation stock.
Mr Heaton purchased incalf heifers from Messrs Caughey Brothers, of Mossburn; D. E. Robertson, of Motunau;” and J. H. Lindsay, of Matamata. Agents in the purchase and shipping of the stock were the New Zealand Farmers’ Stud Stock Company.
Further cattle for the, Wendell West Pastoral Company are to bd shipped at a later date.
