Less Building Of Houses
Only 30 permits for new houses in Waimairi County were issued in July, compared with 54 in July last year, the Waimairi County Council was Informed on Thursday evening. The average cost of houses a square foot was up from $7.47 last year to $7.98, and the average cost of each dwelling was slightly down, from $11,129 to $11,114. The total value of buildings for which permits were issued this July was $643,485—f0r 145 buildings—compared with $1,012,070 for 134 buildings in July last year. On July 27, there was a total of 261 buildings under construction in the county.
