Allocation For Road
Complaints about the condition of Spencerville Road have resulted in the Waimairi County Council allocating $2600 for repairs, subject to the road showing further signs of needing repair before the council’s half-yearly review. The works and reserves committee reported that complaints had been received from the Canterbury Education Board—after complaints by school-bus drivers and from eight resident. The county engineer (Mr A. J. W. Lamb) had reported that construction work was needed and that although the riding had been metalling and grading the road, heavy traffic was breaking the surface. Construction work costing $2600 was needed, and would provide a better foundation for eventual sealing, he had said. It was also decided that council staff should watch the condition of the road closely, and report on the situation.
