Council And Pie-Cart

Sir,—Congratulations on your leading article this morning. I feel that the moving of the pie-cart to Latimer Square is a retrograde step. It appears to me that any effort on the part of the authorities to clear out lhe more undesirable element from Cathedral Square although laudable in itself, might well result in Latimer Square becoming the city’s new trouble spot. This could well prove a backward step on two counts. First, I imagine Latimer Square could be much harder to police, and second it is, as we know, partly residential, and should

i)it become the accepted meet- - ing place of the more irres- > ponsible and restless members of our community the i problems of the authorities must inevitably be intensii fied.—Yours, etc., PRO BONO PUBLICO. August 20, 1970.
