7-A-Side League

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON. A plan for a world seven-a-side Rugby league championship to be held at the end of the world championship programme in England during November has been suggested. The idea comes from Bradford Northern club, whose Odsal Stadium is the venue for the France v. Australia match on November 1. The club manager (Mr A. Fearnley) said: “With all the countries over here together, it would be a tailor-made opportunity to organise the sevens championship. “The overseas teams have already said they want to play extra games after the world championship, and I think they should have the chance of an event like this. We are confi, dent that it would be a big success,” he said. It is hoped that eight teams would take part—two each from England and Australia, Wales. New Zealand, France, and other nationalities.
