C.D. Plans Knock-out

(N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH. At the end of the Plunket Shield season the Central Districts Cricket Association may hold a one-day knock-out matches among the 10 constituents of its area. This proposal will go to the annual meeting to be held in Palmerston North next month. It is presumed that these matches would be of 40 overs and that the first round of the competition would start in mid-February. Under N.Z.C.C. sponsorship the junior advisory board of Central Districts will conduct clinics for groundsmen from secondary schools. It is felt that this should improve the wickets in schools and thereby the standard of cricket should rise. The construction of artificial wickets will also be taken into consideration during these clinics. M.C.C. TESTS From Auckland it is reported that the M.C.C. may have the unusual itinerary of two test matches and three one-day games, during its tour of New Zealand next summer, according to information received by the Auck-

land Cricket Association’s management committee. The itinerary, which will be discussed by the national t board of control on August 1, * has been submitted to the I M.C.C. for approval.

The shorter-than-usual itinerary for the tour has been caused by the M.C.C.’s request that the New Zealand section be reduced from about a month to two weeks and a half.
