Palmer, Nicklaus Win Four-ball
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LIGONIER (Pennsylvania). A. Palmer and J. Nicklaus with a final-round 67 won the $178,570 American four-ball golf championship. They had a 72-hole total of 259—25 under par—on Palmer's home course, the 7045 yd Laurel Valley Golf Club. It was the second time they had won this team championship in which the scoring is done on the better ball of the team. They won in 1966. One of the lowest rounds of
the day, a brilliant 62, was scored by B. Devlin (Australia), and R. J. Charles (New Zealand). They ended in a tie with three other teams at 263. Leading scores: 259—J. Nicklaus and A.
