Prices Again c Advance The national dock strike had a marked influence on trading on Smithfield Market last week, the Meat Board reports. Retailers bought more heavily than usual and caused advances in prices for all imported chilled and frozen meat. The main grade of New Zealand Lamb (prime 29/361b) was quoted at 33d to 34|d per lb or l}d higher than last week. Small quantities of New Zealand wether mutton sold mostly in cut form. The main grade (49/561b) was quoted at 24d to 25d per lb. Ewe and hogget mutton was not quoted. Quotations for New Zealand lamb were:— Price Var’n d. d.
Negligible supplies of New Zealand boneless ox beef were available at nominal prices. The range was:— d. Topsides 57 Rumps 69 Silversides 56 Thick Flanks 55
