More Confident Trading On Australian Markets
Share prices opened the week firm on Australian stock exchanges yesterday. Speculative mining shares made the best gains though industrials were generally firm. Oils were hesitant early but looked better near the close. ’ Among the miners the nickel seekers attracted most interest. Australian Antimony was 10c higher though Mallina fell 8c and Nuttall sc. Western Mining gained 20c to 1100 c after its report. Leading industrials were generally firm in active trading although B.H.P. drifted lower to close 5c down at 1365 c. Hooker attracted interest after the purchase of the city property from McDowells, closing 8c higher at 90c after sales at 92c. The Bank of N.S.W., the C.B.A. and the National Bank all recorded small rises. SYDNEY Sales.—Ampol, 86; Ansett, 88; Ass. Sec., 199; A.G.
