Lecture Boycott Call To Students

Students at the University of Canterbury have been called upon by their representative council to boycott lectures on Friday as a protest against all foreign military intervention in the Vietnam war.

This decision has been made as Friday, July 17, is set down as National Moratorium Day—a day of protest against the war in IndoChina, and Vietnam in particular.

Cuthbert) said, ‘yesterday. “The aim is to get people ■ talking on the issues involved 'in this Vietnam situation,": ■he said. Lecturers were being asked J not to deliver lectures on Friday. If they chose to do so, they were being requested to devote some, if not all time in the lecture to a discussion on Vietnam. Mr Cuthbert said that the Students’ Association expected “particular co-operation” from junior staff members on this matter.
