Call For More Details
The Chartered Institute of Secretaries called for I detailed interim reports, from more companies. j These reports should Indi-, cate comparative profitability and any material I factors which may affect' the earning capacity of] the enterprise the Institute felt.
Inquiries by the Institute show that a number of companies already publish interim reports. Directors of some of the remaining companies, think that seasonal fac-l tors might give a misleading impression if I interim reports were published. Despite the difficulties the Institute believes that the investing public would welcome more information and that this i additional service would benefit company relations with its shareholders and the companies image. Late last year the Council of the Institute made suggestions about dividend advice notes and the registration of share transfers. Their suggestions were warmly endorsed by several company secretaries.
