PLANS FOR MOKE
Production of the British Leyland Mini-Moke, now made only at the corporation’s Australian plant, is to be trebled this year. The company has customers in 75 countries for the vehicle. Since it was “inherited” from Britain 10 years ago, the Moke has been considerably modified by Australian engineers, being both strengthened and fitted with a more powerful engine. Last year demand for the
Moke from countries outside Australia considerably outstripped supply, and the factory hopes to export considerable numbers of the vehicle to both North and South America and to Africa. The latest modifications to the Moke include bigger wheels, an improved sumpguard, and an allsyncromesh gearbox. An 1100 c.c. engine is now fitted.
