MONACO OPEN
Gimeno Only Pro. Left
(N.Z P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) MONTE CARLO. Only one professional, A. Gimeno (Spain), remained in the Monaco open tennis tournament after yesterday’s third round of the men’s singles. Apart from the eclipse of the professionals, only three other seeded men reached the quarter-finals—the Rumanian Davis Cup pair, I. Tiriac and I. Nastase, and Z. Franulovic (Jugoslavia). B. Phillips-Moore (Australia) gained two upset victories over seeded professionals. He had a 6-2, 3-6, 10-8, second round win over the American, M. Riessen, in a match which had been halted the previous night by bad light, and then defeated N. Pilic (Jugoslavia), 6-4, 1-6, 6-3.
