N.Z. Golfers Fall Behind In N.S.W. Open

New Zealand golfers were bunched together, but well beheind the leaders, after the second round of the New South Wales open championship at the Pymble course yesterday. B. T. Boys (70, 73), on 143, is eight strokes behind the leader, K. D. G. Nagle (Australia), and J. M. Lister (69, 75) and T. Kendall (74, 70) are one stroke further back. Lister slumped badly after being five under' playing the eighth and thereafter he was often in trouble. Lister also had some bad news before the second round began. His card from Thursday’s first round was checked by officials and found to be wrong. Lister was credited with a four-under-par 68, bht in fact he had a 69.

A. J. Palmer (71, 74) was on 145 annd W. J. Godfrey (73, 74) 147. However, all five New Zealanders qualified for today’s third round. The cut-off figure was 149.

Nagle moved away to a twoI stroke lead, adding a 69 to his 1 66 on Thursday, for a total of 135. He is followed on 137 by E. W. Dunk, who, with R. Vines, shared the lead with Nagle after the first round. Dunk (66, 71) was a stroke ahead of a group of six on 138—Vines (66, 72), P W. Thomson (72, 66), F. Phillips (68, 70), S. Peach (70, 68). V. Bennetts (69. 69), and T. Linskey (71, 67).
