More Money For Hawkes
(N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Although he will probably be making his last overseas trip this year, the New Zealand Davis Cup reject, R. N. Hawkes has received an extra $350 as sistance from the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association for th* tour.
The 29-year-old Canterbury player, who was last week named as only a reserve for the Davis Cup team after having had his best home circuit of his career, was originally to re ceive $650 assistance, or half of a round-the-world air tic ket. But because of his excellent nerformances at home this season. which would rank him No 2 behind the national chamoion O. Parun, the N.Z.L.T.A. agreed to increase his travel grant.
