OBJECTIONS BY FARMERS

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Oct. 15. Auckland Federated Farmers will ask aerial topdressing companies not to continue a new flat-rate price system which, according to fanners, has caused widespread price increases. The executive was told today that the change to a tonmile rate had increased one farmer’s charges from $2.90 to $5.30. “The change in price structure was a subtle way of getting a price increase.” said the president (Mr W. R. Martin). The aerial topdressing companies were over-capitalised and wanted to push it on to the farmer. “If they have got too much equipment they should do as anyone else does —get rid of it,” he said. The meeting decided to ask the topdressers to revert to the previous individual costing system.
